Experienced Sofa Upholsterer

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and skilled Sofa Upholsterer to join our growing furniture manufacturing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in their workmanship and has experience producing high-quality upholstered furniture.
The successful candidate will be responsible for upholstering sofas, corner sofas, armchairs, footstools, and other furniture products to a high standard. You will work alongside a dedicated production team to ensure all furniture is manufactured efficiently while maintaining exceptional quality and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Upholster sofas, corner sofas, armchairs, footstools, and other furniture products.
- Apply fabric, foam, fibre, webbing, and upholstery materials to finished furniture.
- Measure, cut, and fit upholstery materials accurately.
- Use pneumatic staplers, hand tools, and upholstery equipment safely and efficiently.
- Read and follow production specifications and manufacturing instructions.
- Ensure all products meet company quality standards before leaving the workshop.
- Identify and rectify upholstery defects where necessary.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Work effectively as part of a production team to meet daily manufacturing targets.
- Handle furniture components safely and assist with lifting where required.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year's experience in sofa upholstery or furniture upholstery.
- Experience upholstering sofas, corner sofas, armchairs, or similar upholstered furniture.
- Good understanding of upholstery materials, fabrics, foam, and furniture construction.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Reliable, punctual, and hardworking attitude.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to identify quality issues.
- Physically fit and capable of lifting furniture components when required.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with deep-buttoning, piping, and other upholstery techniques.
- Experience working in a furniture manufacturing environment.
- Ability to upholster a sofa from frame to finished product.
- Experience working with a range of fabrics including velvet, chenille, linen, and leather.
