About the Role:
We are looking for an outstanding Supported Internship Coordinator who is motivated and committed to the success of their students. You will engage with students in a way that inspires them to be successful in their internship placement, coaching and tailoring a programme to meet their individual needs.
You will mentor, coach and deliver development sessions to students both within the college and the workplace, inspiring them to achieve their potential and progress onto an apprenticeship, into employment or further study.
You will be responsible for co-ordinating and the ongoing liaison required with employers, job coaches, parents/carers, the local authority and interns, in setting up and maintaining the placements, in addition to working towards positive outcomes for our young people.
About the Organisation:
The College operates across three main campuses in Stevenage and Hitchin, employing over 650 staff. With a turnover of £30m, the college provides learning opportunities to over 10,000 students each year from study programmes for 16-18 year olds and apprenticeships through to adult provision locally, regionally and nationally. We were judged Good by Ofsted at our last inspection in December 2023, with outstanding features.
Job Description

Co-ordinate the day to day work of Job coaches, ensuring students have maximum exposure to 1:1 coaching in aspirational work placements.
- Act as Supported Internship co-ordinator, maintaining up to date student records and delivering against agreed student retention, attendance, success, satisfaction and outcome measures, whilst providing academic and pastoral support to your students in partnership with the job coaches
- Work with colleagues responsible for both transformation & student services to deliver an overall student experience, which engages, inspires and prepares students for the world of work.
- Work with the Deputy and Head of Curriculum to continually strive for excellence and improve standards in teaching and learning.
- Engage proactively with internal and external stakeholders and in particular with employers, Herts County Council, other Hertfordshire FE colleges and SEN schools to maximise opportunities to develop the SI programme and for employer engagement in the learning process.
- Maintain high expectations of students, working with them to raise their ambition and aspiration, ensuring they realise their full potential.
- Deliver consistently good or better training/teaching sessions, incorporating an effective range of learning strategies that enable outstanding learning outcomes for all students.
- Deliver an appropriate blend of learning opportunities, making effective use of technology both within the workplace/classroom and via online and independent learning.
- Complete Access to work applications and claims accurately and in a timely manner.
