Little Miracles is looking for caring, enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our Childcare Team. This is an exciting opportunity to support children and young people with additional needs, disabilities and life-limiting conditions, helping them to develop confidence, independence and essential life skills in a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment.
We support children and young people from birth to 25 and welcome applications from candidates with experience in childcare, education, SEND, health and social care, youth work or similar fields.
A Level 3 Childcare or in a relevant discipline is essential.
Current Vacancies
We are recruiting for three positions:
9:00am to 3:00pm, Monday to Friday - Term-time only or full-time available
9:00am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday - Full-time
20 hours per week - Dedicated one-to-one support for a young person with complex health needs.
About the Role
No two days at Little Miracles are the same.
Depending on the role, you may:
- Deliver engaging childcare sessions for groups of children and young people.
- Provide one-to-one Alternative Provision for children who require personalised educational and developmental support outside of mainstream settings.
- Support children and young people with complex medical needs.
- Plan and deliver holiday schemes, activities and enrichment opportunities.
- Build positive relationships with children and their families to ensure every child feels welcomed, valued and supported.
You will play an important role in creating a warm, stimulating and inclusive environment where children can have fun, make friends, develop new skills and achieve their individual goals.
As part of this role, you may also be required to provide personal care, including supporting children with toileting, changing, feeding and other activities of daily living. Personal care should always be delivered with dignity, respect and compassion, following each child's individual care plan.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise children and young people, ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times.
- Deliver engaging group sessions and activities.
- Provide dedicated one-to-one support through our Alternative Provision programme.
- Adapt activities to meet individual needs and learning styles.
- Support children to achieve personalised developmental, educational and social outcomes.
- Build trusting relationships with children, young people and their families.
- Promote children's confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing.
- Support communication using a variety of approaches appropriate to each child.
- Deliver sensory, educational and recreational activities.
- Read with children and support their learning through play and meaningful experiences.
- Prepare meals and snacks where required.
- Maintain excellent hygiene and infection control practices, recognising that many children have complex medical needs.
- Provide personal care where required, including toileting, changing, feeding and other daily living tasks whilst maintaining dignity and promoting independence.
- Follow individual healthcare plans, behaviour support plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures.
- Observe children's progress and record achievements, routines and significant observations.
- Recognise and report safeguarding concerns in line with Little Miracles' policies.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the service.
- Contribute to the planning, delivery and evaluation of sessions and holiday programmes.
- Carry out general housekeeping duties to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.
About You
You will:
- Hold a Level 3 qualification (or above) in a relevant discipline.
- Be passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs.
- Have experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals.
- Be confident working both independently and as part of a team.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be patient, caring, adaptable and resilient.
- Be able to build positive relationships with children and their families.
- Be willing to provide personal care where required.
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Experience of supporting children with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, complex medical needs or life-limiting conditions would be an advantage but is not essential.
