Overview
We are seeking a reliable and knowledgable Kitchen Team Member and/or Baker. The cafe is a busy spot at the best of times, with plenty quiet spells to organise and keep ahead. We are a quality orientated place, with great food and drink at its core, and the desire to improve our offerings and systems through a culture of regular retraining and cooperation. If you have a passion for food and enjoy working in a kitchen setting, with daytime hours and good tips, and are not opposed to getting out front to assist the FOH in times of need, we would love to hear from you.
The ideal candidate will have experience one of the title crafts (chef or baker), and a desire to learn the other. They will be self-motivated, have a creative flair, work well in a team, and follow a schedule to the letter. This is a place where no one knows everything, and everyone wants to learn.
First and foremost, please be sound. We're all going to be spending a lot of time together, so we want to all get along and have a good shift. Managing stress at busy times is a big must, and the busy times will always come to an end! We want to look after eachother, caffeinate and feed eachother, while ensuring the customers have a good time while we're at it. Always get your job done, and dont leave it for the next person.
For the right candidate, I'm more than willing to negotiate pay, hours, and responsibilites. The business is growing, our bakery next door is busy too, and so we are looking for people who can and bring to the role their own flaire, specials, and creativity to the space. If you have salary goals, I will work with you to achieve them.
Tips are good here, split evenly, and usually make up an additional £1.50 to £2 per hour.
The bakery supplies the cafe with bread, burger buns, pancake batter, granola and more. In this. I hope to find people with a desire to skill up and share the load. We do a lot of scratch cooking, with goals to do more so this year.
The summer is coming fast, and we want to be prepared. Now, with double the staff we had last year, we're keen to grow more.
You will have some creative licence, working with others to execute a large menu to a tight timescale. We prepare well, so you must be organised. In moments of downtime, we look to what items we can develop and where the menu can grow.
Trust, communication and reliability are my priorities, and passion, skill, and a desire for development are a very close second. This is a place I've worked hard to make worth visiting, and I want to push it further and make it even better. You will need to be punctual, and make your own way to the bakery in the early hours. Work to high food hygiene standards, and keep documentation up to date.
Duties
- Work collaberativelty with the manager, and FOH staff, to ensure a smooth shift
- Work well alone, reliably, and to the cafe's standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen area
- Follow food safety standards and guidelines at all times
- Support operations as needed
- Help with various kitchen tasks to ensure smooth daily operations
Skills
- Experience in a catering, restaurant, or culinary environment is desirable
- Knowledge of kitchen operations and food preparation techniques
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen setting
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to food safety practices
- Willingness to learn and assist with various kitchen duties
