About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Engineer to join our expanding team in a dynamic design and production environment. The Project Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and managing engineering projects throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that they meet the required specifications, quality standards, and deadlines.
What you'll be doing
- Work with all departments to develop work breakdown structures and project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation
- Identify and produce recommendations / solutions for resource or skill sets required to successfully deliver projects
- Plan, allocate, organise and prioritise project engineering tasks to ensure project deliverables are met
- Ensure that project scope and deliverables are clearly understood and managed effectively
- Coordinate with engineering teams on the release of technical information to all relevant departments and liaise with customer representative, sales team and suppliers to ensure the specification matches intended scope of work
- Work with engineering teams to ensure the right level of technical information is available for the given purpose
- Support with problem identification and timely resolution
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams within Kraken to ensure projects are delivered on time and to budget.
- Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Monitor project budgets, ensuring all activities remain within financial constraints
- Ensure that the company’s change management process is applied
- Maintain agreed quality standards across project deliverables
- Produce reports in line with internal procedures and / or contract requirements
- Assist with the development and continual improvement of internal processes and procedures
- Communicate with all departments and stakeholders to ensure that up to date information and project priorities are clearly understood and available
- Organise review meetings in accordance with company procedures and project requirements
- Plan and coordinate project meetings to enable effective and productive outcomes
What we're looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline (eg Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Electrical Engineering etc)
- 3-5 years of experience in a project engineering role, preferably within a manufacturing / workshop environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and design principles.
- Proficiency in MS Project, MS Word, MS Excel.
- Problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
Desirable experience
- Understanding of small boat design and systems
- Basic understanding of MRP
