Shunter Driver (Night Shift) - HGV Class 1
At the Sheldon's Family Bakery, we produce some of the most iconic bread products in the UK. Part of what makes this family bakery unique is it's people. Through continued expansion and investment, we are increasing our Transport Team at our Manchester site.
We are looking for Class 1 HGV Drivers to join our team of logistics experts. This is a customer facing role where you are the representative for the company.
What are are looking for?
- You will hold a valid HGV Licence for Class 1 Vehicles
- You have at least 2 years of experience driving a TERBERG yard tractor unit
- You have at least 2 years of experience driving Class 1 Vehicles
- You hold a valid domestic drivers licence - ideally clean, but with less than 9 points.
- Proactive, can-do attitude.
- Flexible, within Drivers Hours, to work within the Transport Team completing various routes.
- Independent worker with good time-keeping skills.
- Excellent written and verbal English is a must.
What's in the job?
- You will work within the Transport Team as a Night Shunter moving goods from our Bakery Site to our local Storage & Distribution Centre.
- You will visit, where required, external 3rd party sites to collect baskets.
- This is a NIGHT SHIFT role where you will be working only on the Night Shift.
- Shifts are 12 hours each shift, with a 4-shift rota.
- Some weekend work will be required due to the nature of rotating shifts.
- You may, on occasion, be asked to work within the wider Distribution Team to assist during peak periods or to cover your colleagues.
- The role will also require you to work alongside our sites despatch teams to ensure the timely dispatch of our products.

This role is paid at a rate of £17.00 per hour, 12 hours per shift, 4 shifts per week and on nights.

Why do I have to complete and assessment?
As a professional driver you will have undertaken a wealth of training in your field. As you know, you are in control of a large vehicle on the UK roads - and this can be challenging. The assessments we have requested you complete are an indicator as to your level of training, and are used to assess your application. This will also allow us to understand your level of English understanding which is crucial when working in a Production Environment.
