About the Project
Bridge House Mission is a charity, that has provided supported accommodation to people experiencing homelessness and severe multiple disadvantage for 48 years. We have secured funding to establish an innovative Integrative Psychotherapy Day Service. The project recognises that unresolved trauma and developmental needs are often underlying contributors to repeat homelessness.
This project is founded on a simple but significant question: what happens when people experiencing chronic repeat homelessness are given access to long-term, relational psychotherapy?
Working in partnership with Teesside University, the project will undergo independent evaluation using both quantitative and qualitative methods. Throughout the programme we will generate robust evidence exploring the impact of long-term integrative psychotherapy on individuals experiencing homelessness and severe multiple disadvantage. The findings will culminate in a publication-ready research paper and have the potential to influence future commissioning, trauma-informed practice and national conversations about homelessness and recovery.

We would welcome therapists who are qualified in EMDR.
We are not simply looking for an excellent therapist. We are looking for someone who can tolerate uncertainty, remain emotionally robust and recognise that progress is rarely linear. Someone who values relationship above technique, remains curious rather than rescuing, and understands that engagement often begins long before formal psychotherapy starts. Above all, we are seeking a therapist who can offer consistency, hope and a reliable therapeutic relationship to people who have too often experienced abandonment and exclusion from services.
Please submit your CV together with a covering letter explaining why you are interested in this role. We are looking to understand you (your thinking and motivation) therefore your covering letter must be your own original work, written in your own voice, and not generated by AI.
