The role
We are looking for a recognised and experienced candidate to provide specialist operational safety support, guidance, and advice to Head of Department and Departmental Managers and Officers on all aspects of health and safety as related to the maintenance and compliance teams. They provide proactive monitoring of accident/incident and near-miss data to provide detailed advice and solutions to senior management.
The candidate arranges training to departmental users at all levels and ensures that the areas are compliant with safety legislation and University policy. They work in partnership with the divisional Health and Safety team to enable cutting edge operational activities to be undertaken within a culture of safe working.
What will you be doing?
The candidate provides specialist advice, support and solutions in all aspects of health, safety and welfare working with key stakeholders.
Create and maintain accurate safety records to enable regular auditing and proactive actions; analyse and interpret own safety data . Develop consistent safety policies and procedures across Building Services. Analyse and investigate root cause of safety issues to find short and long-term solutions. Writing generic risk assessments and method statements/standard operating procedures (SOPs).
You should apply if
Essential
Vocational qualifications (NVQ level 4-5 or equivalent), or formal training/relevant degree, plus experience in a relevant role; or significant relevant experience.
Appropriate professional safety qualification e.g. Nebosh General Certificate
CDM and Contractor’s control course
Desirable
Mechanical or Electrical background knowledges
