Role Purpose
We are looking for a technician to join the production team alongside our current team of salaried and casual staff. The role will be varied, from venue maintenance to operating technical equipment for visiting artists, as well as some light admin duties.
Venue Technicians support the delivery of shows, working with productions on the ground and fulfilling technical roles including operating sound and lighting consoles for the large variety of shows we host. Venue Technicians are proactive in assisting productions with rigging equipment, patching in-to house systems and maintaining our high standards on the production department. Work is carried out on a rota basis including evenings and weekends.
Role Accountabilities
Technical Ability
- Plan, and deliver technical setups for a variety of events covering, lighting, audio, and video.
- Facilitating touring productions needs within the venue.
- Providing technical assistance with in-house equipment.
- Providing full technical coverage for in-house events.
- Assist with maintenance, inventory management, PAT testing, and equipment upgrades.
- Ensure policies are met by all parties from load in to load out.
- Ensure customer needs are fully understood, and that stage and technical requirements are met on time and safely.
Administrative Duties
- Support, advise on and coordinate the technical specifications of The Forum with clients, promoters and members of an artist’s production team, as requested, including show advancing as required.
- Ensure excellent communication with all staff and external users of the facilities on Email, Phone and in person.
- Ensure all production related work complies with current Health and Safety Legislation and licensing requirements.
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of all recharges arising from the advancing of events and share this information with relevant personnel.
- To act as a key Holder when required.
Other Tasks
- Maintain good order of PC, word-processing and computer tasks and management.
- Carry out any such tasks in keeping with the nature of the job as shall from time to time be determined by the the Senior Leadership Team.
- Ensuring, with the Premises Manager and all staff that we work sustainably and strive to reduce energy consumption throughout the building.
- Any other duties reasonably requested by management.
Role Requirements
- Ability to operate technical equipment for lighting and/ or audio (Digico, Allen and Heath, Chamsys) as well as experience in other areas, training can be provided on the specific equipment here at The Forum.
- You will need to be a confident communicator to work with the varied clientele that we host and to manage relationships with our suppliers.
- The ability to demonstrate problem solving skills.
- Experienced in set up of technical equipment with a deep understanding in at least one discipline.
- At least 2 years industry experience.
Working Hours
- Full time 37.5 hours per week - rota basis including evenings and weekends
Holiday
- 28 days per annum including public holidays
