We have a vacancy for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Education. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with experience of teaching, learning and professional practice within education, and a passion for developing the education workforce.
The successful candidate will contribute to teaching and learning across our range of Initial Teacher Education (ITE) and apprenticeship programmes, working with students across undergraduate and postgraduate provision. You will play an active role in curriculum delivery, student support and the ongoing enhancement of our programmes, ensuring students receive an outstanding academic and professional learning experience.
Alongside teaching responsibilities, the post holder will undertake a key role in the coordination and management of student placements. This will include ensuring trainees are appropriately prepared for placement, working closely with colleagues and external partners to allocate placements, monitoring placement provision and trainee progress, and maintaining accurate placement records. The role will be central to supporting high-quality practice-based learning experiences and ensuring placement processes operate effectively and in line with regulatory requirements.
We are seeking someone who can contribute to the design, delivery and enhancement of an engaging, research-informed curriculum and who is committed to developing strong partnerships with schools, colleges and other educational settings.
The successful candidate should possess an appropriate teaching qualification alongside a postgraduate academic qualification. Experience of Initial Teacher Education, mentoring trainee teachers, partnership working and supporting placement activity would be advantageous.
Main Responsibilities
The main responsibilities for our Lecturer/Senior Lecturer will be to:

Deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across Initial Teacher Education and apprenticeship programmes.

Contribute to curriculum development, quality enhancement and student support activities.

Undertake observations and assessments of students in practice-based learning settings.

Lead the preparation, allocation and monitoring of student placements, ensuring trainees are placement-ready and supported throughout their practice-based learning.

Work collaboratively with the Regulated Placements Team and external partners to maintain high-quality placement experiences and effective partnership relationships.

Monitor trainee progress, attendance and outcomes, maintaining accurate placement records and documentation.

Contribute to mentor development, partnership engagement and wider School and University initiatives.
