About the role

We are looking for a Young Persons Worker to join our team in Stoke-on-Trent.

Do you have a great rapport with young people? Are you passionate about educating and supporting them to navigate their way through the many issues they face today? If so, this job could be exactly what you're looking for.

Our Young Persons Worker teams offer vital support, training, and education to young people in their locality. They work with other agencies and professionals to safeguard their young clients, working with their families too where appropriate. Job Description

As a Young Persons Worker, you'll be supporting a caseload of young people who are experiencing difficulties with substance misuse. You'll work with them to assess their needs, develop care plans, deliver a variety of treatments and refer them to other specialist support when needed. You will develop plans with your clients to help them get their lives back to where they want them to be.

You'll also be proactively engaging with young people to provide them with the support, training, education and guidance they need to better understand the implication of the situations they may face and the decision they may take.

A driving license and access to a vehicle is an essential requirement for this position.

This role is offered on a fixed term contract until November 2027 and will work on site, on a full time basis. As a Young Person's Worker, we offer a starting salary of £26,250 per annum. The salary for this role is on an incremental scale and will rise each year in line with our pay progression salary bands, to £30,900 per annum. Essential Skills

We’re looking for a compassionate and motivated individual, with an exceptional ability to build meaningful relationships. You will have demonstrable experience working within the health, social care, criminal justice or other specialist setting, or a clear motivation for wanting to work in the drug and alcohol sector. A successful track record of providing efficient and reliable customer service is essential.

You will be highly organised, have excellent communication skills, and be able to manage your time effectively. You will work collaboratively as part of a team to ensure a high-quality service is maintained. Above all, we are looking for someone who is passionate about what we do and has a positive and engaging approach to our clients and key stakeholders.

To be able to do this job successfully, you will have:

OCN/NVQ level 3 or equivalent or willing to achieve this within 12 months
experience of managing a caseload of young people with complex needs
sound knowledge of safeguarding and the ability to put safeguarding processes into practice
evidence of multi-agency working
evidence of continuous professional development
excellent relationship building skills with a range of people from a wide variety of backgrounds
the ability to work effectively on your own and as part of a team, sharing your skills knowledge and experience
good organisational skills to be able to manage your time effectively, prioritising your work and being able to cope with the pressure of competing demands
the ability to record and maintain accurate case details and in a timely manner
effective IT skills, able to use different packages and digital media
access to a vehicle and a full UK driving licence

This role is subject to a satisfactory enhanced level DBS and barred lists check.
