An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health Care Support Worker to join the Community Respiratory Service within Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust. This post is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, delivering person-centred care, and making a real difference to people living with respiratory conditions in their local community.
A core component of this role is undertaking venepuncture and delivering TB screening pathways, including IGRA blood testing for adults and young people aged 16 years and over. Working four mornings per week (Monday to Thursday), you will play a key role in delivering high-quality respiratory and TB screening services across Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire.
As part of our specialist multidisciplinary Respiratory Team, you will support the assessment, monitoring and care of patients with respiratory conditions. You will work alongside Respiratory Nurses, Physiotherapists and Assistant Practitioners, contributing to the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate care.
This role has a strong clinical focus, with responsibility for supporting respiratory and TB screening clinics across community settings. You will work flexibly across Respiratory Support Pathway and Asylum Seeker Health services, supporting vulnerable populations and contributing to the early identification and treatment of respiratory disease and tuberculosis.
A key component of this role is supporting delivery of TB screening clinics and the undertaking of venepuncture for IGRA blood testing. The successful candidate will have extensive phlebotomy experience and be confident working autonomously whilst maintaining the highest standards of patient care, safety and specimen handling.
A unique aspect of this role is the opportunity to support tuberculosis and respiratory screening programmes for asylum seekers and newly arrived communities within Stoke on Trent. You will help improve access to healthcare, reduce health inequalities and contribute to important public health initiatives.
This unique role combines specialist phlebotomy skills with respiratory and public health screening, helping to identify tuberculosis at an early stage and improve health outcomes for vulnerable communities across North Staffordshire.
KEY DUTIES
- Deliver and support respiratory and TB screening clinics.
- Undertake venepuncture and IGRA blood testing as a core and essential component of the role.
- Support tuberculosis screening programmes, including work with asylum seeker and migrant populations.
- Assist with respiratory assessments and diagnostic pathways.
- Support pulmonary rehabilitation and patient self-management programmes.
- Monitor patients, recognise deterioration and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Maintain accurate electronic clinical records and support clinic administration.

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes is essential, as regular travel between clinics is required.
