Look no further! We have a fantastic opportunity for a Deputy Manager to join our Edge of Care team here at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council is continuing its journey with our innovative Edge-of-Care Reunification Home - a specialist, trauma-informed intervention hub designed to support children and families at a pivotal moment in their lives.

Following the appointment of our Registered Manager, we are now seeking a passionate, skilled and values-driven Deputy Manager to join us at this exciting stage and help turn our bold vision into exceptional day-to-day practice.

This is not just a deputy role, it is an opportunity to shape a new model of care, build a strong and reflective team and deliver life-changing outcomes for children and families.

As our Deputy Manager, you will:

Help Build a New Service from Day One - Working closely with the Registered Manager, you will support the development of the home, embedding trauma-informed practice and helping establish a safe, nurturing and therapeutic culture.

Lead Practice and Support the Team - You will play a key role in leading shifts, modelling high-quality care and ensuring staff deliver consistent, relational and child-centred practice.

Deliver a 12-Week Reunification Programme - Supporting the Registered Manager, you will help ensure the delivery of a structured intervention model designed to stabilise families, build relationships and prevent children entering care.

Develop and Nurture a Skilled Workforce - You will provide supervision, coaching and reflective support to staff, helping to create a high-performing, resilient team.

Work as Part of a Wider System - You will collaborate with the Edge-of-Care Outreach Team, fostering services and therapeutic practitioners to ensure joined-up, effective support for families.

Drive Quality and Continuous Improvement - You will support the Registered Manager in maintaining high standards, monitoring outcomes, and ensuring the home meets all regulatory and safeguarding requirements.

Who Were Looking For

You will be:

An experienced practitioner within residential childcare or edge-of-care services
Skilled in trauma-informed and relational practice
Confident in supporting staff and leading practice on shift
Able to manage risk, safeguarding, and complex behaviours effectively
Passionate about helping children and families achieve positive, lasting change.

You will also:

Support the Registered Manager in meeting the Childrens Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
Promote a culture of reflection, learning, and continuous improvement
Be resilient, motivated, and committed to delivering outstanding care and outcomes.
