Quality Assurer
Based in Newcastle-Under-Lyme.

RCM, a member of the Benx Group and one of the UK’s leading suppliers of specialist building boards, facades, and through-wall solutions, are seeking an experienced Quality Assurer to join our Operations Department.
Reporting to the Head of Production and Facades, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring products and paint finishes meet the required quality standards throughout the production process. The role involves carrying out quality inspections, identifying and reporting defects, maintaining accurate quality records and supporting corrective actions. Working closely with Production and Coatings, the successful candidate will help drive improvements in product and finish quality, reduce rework and waste, and ensure products consistently meet company and customer requirements.
Key responsibilities include;
- Carry out quality inspections across paint-line and production processes, including pre-paint, in-process and final checks.
- Inspect painted components for coating defects, damage, incorrect finishes and other quality issues.
- Check paint thickness, adhesion, colour, gloss, cure and finish using appropriate inspection and measuring equipment.
- Ensure products meet drawings, specifications, work instructions and customer quality requirements.
- Identify and control non-conforming products, raising quality issues and supporting rework or corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, quality documentation and product traceability.
- Work closely with Production and Paint Line teams to investigate defects, reduce rework and scrap, and improve overall product quality.
- Support root-cause investigations, corrective actions and continuous improvement activities.
- Ensure measuring equipment is correctly calibrated and quality procedures, including ISO 9001 requirements, are followed.
- Maintain high standards of health, safety, PPE and housekeeping within production and paint-line areas.
- Undertake other reasonable duties as required to support the needs of the business.
Experience/knowledge required;
Essential:
- Experience working in a manufacturing, engineering, paint-line, powder-coating, or production environment.
- Good understanding of quality inspection principles.
- Ability to identify visual and dimensional defects.
- Ability to read and understand manufacturing specifications, work instructions, and basic engineering drawings.
- Experience using measuring and inspection equipment.
- Good attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain accurate quality records.
- Good communication skills and confidence working directly with production personnel.
- Ability to make objective quality decisions and escalate concerns when required.
Desirable:
- Previous QA Technician, Quality Inspector, or Quality Control experience.
- Experience with industrial painting or powder-coating processes.
- Knowledge of coating thickness measurement and paint/coating inspection.
- Understanding of ISO 9001 or similar Quality Management Systems.
- Experience with Non-conformances, corrective actions, and root-cause analysis.
- Experience investigating customer complaints.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement principles.
