Full job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our existing secretarial team at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust. This will be working within the ENT Department based at Sandwell Health Campus.

The role will require strong communication skills and a knowledge of Cancer Pathways and RTT is desirable.

Within our Trust, all full time secretaries provide full secretarial support to 2 consultants and their junior doctors, while working together as a team. A part time secretary will provide full secretarial support for 1 consultant and their junior doctors.

As the Medical Secretary, you will manage the administrative processes associated with patient pathways and contribute to the overall effectiveness of clinical teams (this including patient experience, patient flow and waiting list management).

You will provide secretarial and administrative support to Consultants and clinical teams to support in the delivery of high quality co-ordinated and integrated care. This will including liaison with patients, carers, GP’s and other service users.

You will book appointments for patients on cancer pathway within National Targets and will be responsible for raising any capacity issues with the Line Manager.

Robust knowledge of IT systems is required as well as an ability to work with multiple systems at the same time. Excellent typing speed and grammar is also desirable.
