Have you ever watched Welcome to Wrexham, Sunderland 'Til I Die or All or Nothing and thought...
"I'd love to be the person behind the camera."
This is your opportunity.
Lightwater United FC are looking for a passionate and creative Volunteer Documentary Filmmaker & Content Creator to follow our First Team throughout the 2026/27 season.
This isn't about filming 90 minutes of football.
It's about telling the stories that happen before the whistle blows and long after the final whistle.
The pressure.
The setbacks.
You'll have the freedom to build a documentary series from the ground up, creating content that people genuinely want to follow.
Imagine looking back at the end of the season and saying...
"I created that."
Every episode you produce becomes another piece of your portfolio.
Whether your ambition is to work in football, television, media production, sports journalism or social media, this project gives you something that most people simply don't have...
Real-world experience producing an entire documentary series.
What you'll be doing
You'll become part of the club, capturing every side of football that supporters rarely get to see.
This could include:
- Training sessions
- Matchdays
- Team talks
- Player interviews
- Manager interviews
- Dressing room moments
- Club volunteers
- Behind-the-scenes preparation
- The highs and lows of the season
Who we're looking for
You don't need years of professional experience.
We're looking for someone who:
- Loves storytelling.
- Has a passion for football.
- Enjoys filming and editing.
- Wants to improve their craft.
- Wants to build an outstanding portfolio.
- Isn't afraid to try new ideas.
- Can commit to filming regularly throughout the season.
Whether you're studying media, recently graduated, or simply passionate about filmmaking, we'd love to hear from you.
What's in it for you?
Unfortunately, this is a voluntary position, so there isn't a salary available.
However, what you will receive is something that could be far more valuable at this stage of your career.
You'll leave the season with:
- An entire documentary series to showcase your work.
- A professional portfolio of football content.
- Real experience working inside a football club.
- Opportunities to network within football.
- Creative freedom to develop your own style.
