The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and professional Administration & Curricular Support Assistant to join our team.
This is a varied role combining administrative and clerical responsibilities with practical support for the delivery of high-quality early learning and childcare.
The successful candidate will play an important part in the smooth day-to-day running of the nursery, supporting the management and practitioner teams with administration, organisation, curriculum resources and quality improvement activities.
The role would suit someone with strong administrative skills who enjoys working as part of a busy team and has a genuine interest in early learning and childcare.
Key ResponsibilitiesAdministration & Organisation
· Provide efficient day-to-day administrative and clerical support to the Nursery Manager and wider management team.
· Maintain accurate records, databases, filing systems and documentation.
· Assist with correspondence, emails, telephone enquiries and general office duties.
· Support the preparation and organisation of nursery documentation, reports, policies and procedures.
· Assist with maintaining staff, child and operational records, ensuring information is handled confidentially and in line with nursery procedures.
· Support the organisation of meetings, training, events and other nursery activities.
· Assist with ordering, stock control and maintaining appropriate resources.
· Communicate professionally and positively with staff, parents, carers and external professionals.
· Demonstrate excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks within a busy nursery environment.
Curricular Support
· Work alongside the management and practitioner teams to support the delivery of high-quality learning experiences.
· Assist with the preparation and organisation of curricular resources and learning materials.
· Support practitioners with displays, learning documentation and resources that celebrate children’s experiences and achievements.
· Help maintain well-organised and accessible curricular resources throughout the nursery.
· Assist with gathering and organising evidence to support self-evaluation and quality improvement.
· Support the nursery in maintaining high standards of presentation and organisation across learning environments.
· Where appropriately qualified and experienced, provide practical support within playrooms and contribute to children’s learning experiences.
· Promote the nursery’s ethos of Growing Healthy, Happy Children throughout all aspects of the role.
Qualifications & ExperienceEssential
The successful applicant must:
· Hold a relevant administration, business or clerical qualification.
· Have appropriate experience working within an administrative or clerical role.
· Have excellent organisational and time-management skills.
· Have good IT skills and be confident using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
· Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Be able to manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively.
· Have excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records.
· Understand the importance of confidentiality and professional conduct.
· Be approachable, reliable and able to work effectively as part of a large team.
· Demonstrate a professional and welcoming manner when communicating with children, families, staff and visitors.
Desirable
It would be advantageous for applicants to have:
· Previous experience working within an early learning and childcare or educational setting.
· Knowledge or experience of supporting the delivery of the early years curriculum.
· Experience preparing curricular resources, learning materials or displays.
· An understanding of quality improvement and self-evaluation within an early learning and childcare setting.
· Knowledge of current Scottish early learning and childcare practice and guidance.
