Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Restaurant Manager to join the team at Kirkwall Hotel. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee daily restaurant operations, ensure exceptional guest service, and support the management team in delivering a memorable dining experience. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for hospitality, and a solid background in restaurant and culinary operations. This position is fully paid and integral to maintaining the high standards of our establishment.

Responsibilities

Assist the Restaurant Manager in supervising daily restaurant activities, ensuring smooth service delivery
Oversee food preparation and cooking processes to maintain quality standards
Supervise and support front-of-house staff, including serving and barista team members
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and uphold hygiene standards across all areas
Manage team schedules, delegate tasks, and motivate staff to deliver excellent customer service
Assist with food production, kitchen organisation, and maintaining efficient workflow during busy periods
Handle guest enquiries and resolve any issues promptly to guarantee guest satisfaction
Support in training new staff members and fostering a positive team environment
Contribute to menu planning, stock control, and inventory management as needed

Experience

Proven supervising experience within a restaurant or hospitality environment
Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen operations
Experience in restaurant service, including serving and barista duties is desirable
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage teams effectively
Knowledge of food safety standards and food production processes
Previous hotel or hospitality experience is advantageous but not essential
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure
