Description

To be a valued member of the management team within Business South assisting with our plans to grow our client base and develop our team. Working closely with the Senior Management Team and Partners this role is key in ensuring the service offering is delivered efficiently and to a high standard across the Firm.

You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of key clients, coaching and supporting team members, overseeing and taking responsibility for the management and deployment of resources, building and maintaining good working relationships with colleagues and clients and contributing to the further development of the firm’s client base. Clear communication skills, strong people development skills, solution focussed, innovation and the ability to organise yourself and others are essential.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

General

Embrace the Firm’s vision, mission and values and translate these into day-to-day actions to lead and develop others
Management of a portfolio of clients while building and maintaining strong relationships with new and established clients
Assist in the production and presentation of proposals for new work
Involvement in the recruitment and development of the team
Carrying out and reviewing complex special work
Day to day responsibility for people management and development, including:
- Providing regular and constructive feedback to build capability
- Motivational leadership
- Completion of performance review, 121s and probation reviews
- Overseeing development and any performance management within the team
- Development and running of internal training
- Reviewing and approving holiday and work programs

Business Development

Actively seek out opportunities to develop and grow business across the firm
Awareness of the wide range of Larking Gowen services and ability to spot opportunities to potentially sell those services
Involvement in tender proposals with Partners/Directors
Undertake external speaking
Maintain up-to-date understanding of client’s businesses
Maintain good working relationships with clients
Take a proactive approach to advising clients on forthcoming regulatory changes
Active involvement in office marketing events, when appropriate, acting as an ‘ambassador’ of the firm

Task Management

Actively work with partners to deliver the strategic aims of the business
Co-ordinate and communicate effectively across the Business team
Work and liaise with other members of the Business team and colleagues in other parts of the firm as necessary to provide high quality client service
Undertake development and talent reviews with members of the team
Acting as a mentor for seniors and assistant managers
Work with assistant managers to develop their specialist areas

Training

Ensure compliance with all CPD requirements
Proactively identify training requirements to assist with personal and team development
Share experience with other departments to assist development of the firm as a whole

Other Responsibilities

Adheres to the firm’s risk management policies and procedures
Undertakes other duties to meet the demands of the business as required

Experience & Skills
Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent)

Essential:

Significant post-qualified experience within practice
Experience of managing a team
Experience of development of a team overseeing performance
Proven ability of demonstrating role model behaviours and a positive leadership style
Extensive experience of networking and building relationships with referrers
Proven ability to manage a portfolio efficiently and effectively
Experience of coaching or mentoring colleagues
Proven ability to adapt quickly to changing deadline and priorities
Experience of dealing with client matters

Desirable

Experience of recruitment
Undertaking firm wide responsibilities
