Full job description

Role Purpose:

We are implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and need a Data Entry Assistant to support the project on a fixed 12-month contract. This is a hands-on, entry-level role focused on entering and cleaning up data – no prior ERP or Business Central experience is required, though it would be an advantage. Full training will be given on our systems and the data entry standards to follow.

You will be responsible for entering stores and parts information into Business Central, and for extracting, cleaning and migrating historical data from our existing AMOS system so it can be loaded accurately into the new system.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Accurately enter stores/inventory data into Business Central, following the agreed data templates and standards.
Enter and maintain parts master data, including part numbers, descriptions, categories, suppliers and units of measure.
Extract historical records from AMOS and prepare them for migration into Business Central.
Cleanse and sanitise data – removing duplicates, correcting errors, and standardising formats and naming conventions.
Cross-check migrated and entered data against source records to confirm accuracy and completeness.
Keep a log/tracker of data entry progress and outstanding queries.
Flag data gaps, inconsistencies or quality issues to the ERP project team.
Liaise with stores, warehouse and project staff to resolve queries about data.
Carry out data entry tasks on a repetitive, high-volume basis to agreed deadlines and quality standards.

Key Tasks:

Enter stores and inventory data in Business Central.
Extract historical data from AMOS.
Cleanse and sanitise historical data.
Identify and flag missing, inconsistent or poor-quality data.
Complete high-volume data entry.
Support the overall ERP implementation project.

Key Measurables:

High level of data accuracy, minimal input errors.
Required historical records extracted within agreed project timescales.
Data consistently follows agreed templates and standards.
Tracker kept accurate and up to date; outstanding items clearly identified.
Data-quality issues raised promptly rather than incorrectly entered.
Queries resolved within reasonable timescales; minimal outstanding issues delaying migration.
Agreed volumes completed within project deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
Assigned data sets completed in line with the Business Central implementation plan.

Key Behaviours

High Level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Confident using Microsoft Excel and general IT systems.
Comfortable with repetitive, detail-focused data entry work over a sustained period.
Well organized, able to manage own workload and meet deadlines.
Good communication skills, comfortable asking questions and raising queries.

Education and Qualifications Specific to Role:

No formal qualifications required - comfortable asking questions and raising queries.

Desirable Qualifications or Equivalent Experience

Experience with AMOS, Business Central or other ERP/inventory systems is an advantage but not essential.

Demonstrable Experience Specific to Role:

Ability to work accurately with detailed or technical information.
Strong attention to detail and evidence of checking own work.
Ability to remain focused during repetitive and detail-heavy work.
