Position Overview
As a Bartender, you will be responsible for delivering a first-class beverage experience while supporting the smooth operation of the bar. You'll prepare high-quality drinks with consistency and flair, confidently recommend wines and cocktails, and provide knowledgeable service that enhances every guest's dining experience.
You'll work closely with the restaurant team to ensure every drink reflects the premium standards Rio is known for.
Key Responsibilities:Cocktail & Beverage Service
- Prepare and serve a wide range of classic and signature cocktails to the highest standard.
- Maintain consistency in presentation, quality and flavour.
- Prepare and serve beers, wines, spirits, soft drinks and hot beverages efficiently.
- Ensure all drinks are served promptly while maintaining exceptional quality.
Wine Knowledge & Guest Experience
- Confidently recommend wines to complement guests' meals.
- Demonstrate a good understanding of wine styles, grape varieties and food pairings.
- Assist guests in selecting cocktails, wines and premium spirits based on their preferences.
- Provide knowledgeable recommendations that enhance the overall dining experience.
Bar Operations
- Maintain a clean, organised and fully stocked bar throughout service.
- Carry out daily opening and closing procedures.
- Monitor stock levels and communicate replenishment requirements.
- Ensure all beverages are stored and served according to company standards.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with waiting staff, managers and kitchen teams to deliver seamless service.
- Support colleagues during busy service periods.
- Assist in training and supporting junior bar team members where required.
- Communicate effectively to ensure excellent service throughout the restaurant.
Compliance & Standards
- Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene and organisation.
- Follow all company procedures relating to licensing laws, age verification and responsible alcohol service.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety and health & safety regulations.
- Take pride in maintaining a professional appearance and workspace.
Upselling & Sales
- Recommend premium spirits, cocktails, wines and after-dinner drinks.
- Maximise beverage sales through confident and knowledgeable recommendations.
- Process orders and payments accurately using the POS system.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a bartender in a premium restaurant, cocktail bar or hotel is essential.
- Excellent cocktail-making skills and knowledge of classic and contemporary recipes.
- Good knowledge of wines, premium spirits and beverage pairings.
- WSET qualification or similar wine knowledge would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to remain calm and organised in a fast-paced environment.
- A positive attitude, attention to detail and strong teamwork skills.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
