Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant and Maintenance Technician to join our team. This dual-role position offers a unique opportunity for individuals who enjoy contributing to both the culinary and operational success of our establishment. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the kitchen staff by assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring that all food safety standards are met. Additionally, they will be responsible for addressing general maintenance tasks, ensuring the facility remains in excellent condition and fully operational.

This position is perfect for individuals looking to gain experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment while showcasing their skills in maintenance and facility management.

Duties

Kitchen Responsibilities:

Assist with food preparation tasks, including chopping, slicing, and measuring ingredients for various dishes.
Support chefs and cooks in the kitchen by following instructions and helping with meal assembly.
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste properly.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times.
Help with inventory management by restocking supplies as needed and reporting shortages to the head chef.
Participate in catering events as required, assisting in the setup and breakdown of food stations.
Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

Maintenance Responsibilities:

Perform general maintenance and repairs, including plumbing, electrical work, and painting.
Troubleshoot and resolve minor electrical and plumbing issues in a timely manner.
Conduct routine inspections of the facility to identify and address maintenance needs.
Assist in maintaining HVAC systems and other equipment.
Ensure all maintenance tools and equipment are in good working condition.
Respond to urgent repair requests from residents and staff promptly and efficiently.

Experience

Kitchen:

Previous experience in a kitchen environment is preferred but not essential; a willingness to learn is key.
Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary skills is advantageous.
Familiarity with food safety practices and regulations is beneficial.
Strong organizational skills and ability to work efficiently under pressure.
Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude are essential for success in this role.

Maintenance:

Proven experience in general maintenance, including plumbing, electrical work, painting, and general repairs.
Basic knowledge of HVAC systems and mechanical equipment is an advantage.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on maintenance tasks.
Familiarity with health and safety regulations and best practices.
