Job title: Marketing & Communications Manager Organisation: The Sussex Beacon Location: Brighton, BN2 4DE Hours: 22.5 hours per week Contract: Permanent Salary: £33,000 FTE (£19,800 actual)

The Sussex Beacon is looking for a Marketing & Communications Manager who can tell powerful stories, build meaningful connections and help more people understand the life-changing impact of our work as we launch our new strategy, ‘Lighting the Way 2026–2030’.

We are a Brighton-based charity providing specialist HIV care across Sussex. As we reopen our hospice and extend support to the LGBTQ+ community — the first provision of its kind in the country — this is a rare opportunity to shape communications at a moment of real growth, purpose and possibility.

This is a hands-on, creative and strategic role for someone who believes communications can challenge stigma, inspire action and bring people closer to a cause that matters.

What you’ll be doing

· Lead joined-up marketing and communications across digital, print, PR, social media and web channels.

· Create compelling campaigns and content that raise awareness, deepen trust and inspire support, donations and engagement.

· Use insight, analytics and testing to understand audiences, improve performance and extend our reach.

· Protect, develop and champion The Sussex Beacon brand with warmth, clarity and confidence.

· Support and develop the Marketing & Communications team, helping to create an ambitious, collaborative and values-led approach.

About you

You will be a thoughtful, values-led communicator who combines creativity with good judgement. You may come from charity, health, community, public sector or purpose-driven marketing, but you will share our commitment to dignity, inclusion and compassionate care. You will bring experience in marketing, communications or digital campaigns, strong writing skills and the ability to manage competing priorities. Experience with paid social media, Google Ads, email marketing, SEO, websites, analytics, WordPress, Photoshop, InDesign or Canva would be an advantage.
