Full-time or Part-time | 3 month Fixed Term Contract | Finance

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-developing business with a diverse range of activities. We are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join our Finance team on a 3 month fixed term contract, supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play an important role in maintaining accurate and timely financial records, with responsibility for a broad range of sales ledger, purchase ledger and general finance activities.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

Preparing and accurately posting sales invoices and intercompany recharges.
Liaising with customers to ensure payments are received in line with agreed credit terms.
Processing purchase ledger invoices accurately and efficiently, including PO matching, authorisation and coding.
Liaising with suppliers and internal teams to investigate and resolve purchase ledger and sales ledger queries.
Preparing purchase ledger statement reconciliations.
Preparing fortnightly supplier payment runs.
Processing credit card transactions, petty cash and employee expense claims.
Updating bank transactions on Sage and completing weekly bank reconciliations.
Maintaining daily cash position and forecasts across the business.
Preparing and filing monthly VAT returns.
Supporting the timely and accurate payment of HMRC and pension liabilities.
Assisting with monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
Supporting the Finance Manager with the preparation of information for the annual audit and liaising with auditors.
Supporting other general administrative activities, including answering calls, greeting visitors and maintaining office supplies.

About You

We are looking for someone who is organised, accurate and able to manage a varied workload within a busy finance environment.

You will ideally have:

A bookkeeping qualification or at least 3 years' experience in a ledger processing role.
Experience using Microsoft Office, including basic Excel skills.
Experience using Sage 50 is desirable.
Experience working with purchase order systems is desirable.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
The ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and multitask effectively.
Strong analytical and observation skills.
Good attention to detail.
The ability to work independently, use your initiative and make appropriate decisions.
A willingness and ability to learn and adopt new procedures as required.
