Role Purpose:
The Compliance Engineer supports the maintenance of product and business compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards and management systems. The role assists with product testing, certification, technical documentation and compliance activities related to smoke and environmental ventilation products.
Working closely with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing and Projects teams, you will help ensure compliance requirements are met throughout the product lifecycle.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
Essential
- Experience in an engineering, manufacturing or technical environment.
- Familiarity with compliance documentation and certification processes.
- Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Desirable
- Knowledge of EN 12101 standards.
- Experience with smoke control or life safety systems.
- Understanding of UKCA/CE marking requirements.
- Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 systems.
- Internal Auditor qualification or willingness to obtain.

Key Responsibilities:
Product Compliance
- Assist in maintaining compliance with EN 12101 and other relevant standards.
- Support UKCA and CE marking activities.
- Maintain technical files, certification records and compliance documentation.
- Support product testing programmes and certification activities.
- Monitor updates to standards and regulations relevant to SE Controls products.
SDI 19 & Quality Systems
- Support compliance with the Smoke Control Association SDI 19 Competency Scheme.
- Assist with internal and external audits.
- Help maintain records, procedures and documentation required by the Integrated Management System.
- Support corrective actions and continuous improvement activities.
Technical Support
- Provide compliance guidance to internal departments.
- Support customer and project-related technical compliance enquiries.
- Participate in design reviews and product development activities where required.
Documentation & Records
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date compliance records.
- Ensure documentation is controlled and readily available for audit and certification purposes.
- Assist with the preparation of reports and compliance data.
