Full job description

Help protect one of the UK’s most special coastlines. You’ll be out on site every day, talking to visitors, reducing disturbance to wildlife, and making sure everyone can enjoy the coast responsibly.

Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours), with weekend working

Duration: Fixed-term from as soon as possible until the end of September

As you’ll be working across multiple coastal sites, you’ll need a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

What it's like to work here:You’ll be part of a friendly, hands-on countryside team based at Blakeney, working across the north Norfolk coast from Salthouse to Brancaster. Reporting to a Countryside Manager and Area Ranger, you’ll work closely with other rangers and volunteers to care for important habitats and wildlife, while welcoming thousands of visitors during our busiest months. It’s a fast-paced, outdoor role where no two days are the same, and where your work will make a visible difference every day.

What you'll be doing:You’ll spend most of your time out on the ground, engaging directly with visitors. You’ll help reduce disturbance by explaining dog restrictions, sharing wildlife messages, and encouraging responsible behaviour. Evidence shows that a visible, friendly presence is the most effective way to protect these sensitive sites - and you’ll play a key role in that.

As Assistant Ranger, you’ll undertake different task in countryside management. This will include nature conservation working to make habitats better for wildlife, site inspections, routine practical maintenance, monitoring of wildlife habitats, supporting volunteers, and helping to deliver activities that strengthen people’s connections with the outdoors.

As no two days are the same, the nature of the role means a flexible approach is crucial to ensure the right level of support is given across the site. So, whether you’re maintaining our green spaces or talking to people, you’ll inspire others to love our beautiful places as much as you do.

Who we're looking forWe’d love to hear from you if you're:

able to demonstrate practical experience in land, conservation and access management to level 2 or have 6 months vocational experience
willing to work outside in all weathers and deliver tasks when the weather conditions aren’t ideal
comfortable working in a flexible and adaptable way
able to work alone or under direction, and as part of a team
positive with an approachable attitude
happy and willing to learn new things
enjoy the work you do and happy to share this with others
