As Retail Supervisor you will be responsible for fulfilment of these specialist orders, ensuring items are received in perfect condition.

Job Purpose:
To coordinate and control all transport activities across the distribution functions of the business, ensuring the efficient, cost-effective and timely movement of goods through purchasing, wholesale and retail channels. The role is responsible for managing relationships with carriers and freight forwarders, arranging inbound and outbound transportation, monitoring delivery performance, controlling transport costs and resolving service issues to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
The Transport Co-Ordinator will work closely with Sales, Purchasing, Warehouse and Operations teams to ensure transport requirements are met, shipments are tracked through to successful delivery and all relevant documentation is accurately prepared and maintained. The role also supports continuous improvement through carrier performance management, transport analysis and the identification of opportunities to improve service levels, operational efficiency and cost effectiveness across the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities:
- 1. · Quote and book all wholesale bulk orders, including palletised shipments, ensuring the most cost-effective and suitable transport solution is selected.
- · Arrange transport for inbound stock from suppliers and ensure deliveries are scheduled in line with business requirements.
- · Track and monitor all shipments through to successful delivery, proactively managing delays and liaising with carriers to resolve issues.
- · Investigate and manage carrier claims relating to lost, damaged or delayed consignments.
- · Check transport invoices and identify any discrepancies in charges, escalating issues to the relevant department and carrier where required.
- · Monitor transport costs and identify opportunities for service improvements and cost savings.
- · Coordinate with couriers to ensure all daily collections are completed and take corrective action when service failures occur.
- · Liaise with sales, purchasing and warehouse teams to ensure transport requirements are communicated effectively and customer expectations are met.
- · Ensure all consignment documentation is accurately prepared and that any special instructions are clearly communicated to carriers.
- · Ensure carriers are notified in sufficient time when collections are required and all transport bookings are completed accurately.
- · Ensure all relevant shipping and customs documentation is provided to carriers where applicable.
- · Monitor and report on carrier performance, including delivery success rates, collection performance, service levels and transport costs.
- · Carry out regular carrier performance reviews and provide quarterly transport performance reports to the Operations Manager.
- · Manage relationships with existing freight forwarders and evaluate potential new transport partners to support business requirements.
- · Conduct audits of new and existing carriers, ensuring the approved supplier list remains current and aligned with operational needs.
- · Maintain accurate records of transport quotations and ensure quote retention documentation is kept up to date.
- · Keep the Warehouse Manager and Operations Manager informed of any issues that may impact operational performance or customer service.
- · Undertake any other reasonable duties required to support the operational needs of the business.
Skills Profile:
- Minimum 2 years' experience within transport, logistics, distribution or supply chain operations.
- Broad understanding of warehouse and distribution processes.
- Experience using ERP/WMS systems (Microsoft Dynamics experience would be advantageous).
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to analyse transport data, identify discrepancies and produce performance reports.
- Proven ability to investigate and resolve transport and delivery issues.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with carriers, suppliers and internal departments.
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office packages, particularly Excel, Outlook and Word.
- Good understanding of transport documentation and carrier management processes.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records.

Hours Of Work:
- Day shift, 8 hours between 0800 and 1730
- Monday to Friday, with possible weekends
- 40 Hours per week
