Job Overview
Simerics Inc. is a global technology company that develops, markets, and supports Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) software for product design and development in automotive, hydraulics, oil and gas, marine and aerospace industries. The Simerics team is comprised of scientists and engineers who have been among the pioneers in the development and application of multipurpose computational physics since the early 1980s. This knowledge and experience are combined with new advances in computational physics, computational geometry and software engineering to provide our clients with the next generation of simulation tools.
Simerics offers two state-of-art general-purpose CFD tools: Simerics-MP and Simerics-MP+. Simerics-MP features a parallel solver that yields accurate and fast simulation for multi-purpose (MP) applications involving single-phase or multiphase flow, turbulence, cavitation/aeration, heat and mass transfer, particle and fluid-structure interaction. Simerics-MP+ includes all the capabilities of Simerics-MP with additional features such as streamlined setup procedures, automated mesh/re-mesh for key components especially moving components.
Simerics Ltd is establishing a new UK office in Southampton and is seeking a UK CFD Application Engineer to support its growing customer base and international distributor network.
Job Responsibilities
The application engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise and simulation support to Simerics customers by closely working with software developers and project engineers from Simerics' USA, Germany and India offices. The candidate will use Simerics’ own software Simerics-MP/Simerics-MP+ to perform simulations, in conjunction with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools such as NX, SolidWorks, PTC Creo and Python etc. The activities include:
· Develop 3D simulation models for various thermal and fluid applications including electric motor, battery cooling, fuel injection, engine and transmission lubrication, positive displacement pumps, turbomachinery, thermal management, etc.
· Research and develop new methods, fast and accurate simulation strategies for multiphase flow and heat transfer, moving mesh and fluid-structure interactions.
· Analyse the dominant physics, interpret simulation results and help to improve product performance.
· Customize and automate CFD workflows using Simerics advanced features and Python scripting.
· Provide technical training and support to Simerics users.
· Prepare technical reports and papers, present and publish at conferences.
Required Qualifications
· Masters/PhD in Mechanical/Aerospace/Chemical engineering or science
· Two or three years of industrial experience is an added advantage.
· Solid understanding of numerical methods- finite volume and finite difference methods
· Strong technical background in fluid mechanics and heat transfer
· Experience of programming in Python
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills - be a team player
Desired Qualifications
· Experience with the use of commercial and/or non-commercial CFD tools
· Experience in multiphase flow, cavitation, moving mesh and/or hydraulics simulation.
· CAD experience (SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, or NX).
· Right to work in UK.
· Holds a valid driving licence.
