Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated qualified Roofer to join our solar install team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining solar panels on residential and commercial buildings. This role requires a strong understanding of roofing/solar systems, safety protocols, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team. The position offers an opportunity to develop your skills in various aspects of roofing and construction, contributing to high-quality project completion.
Duties
- Read and interpret schematics and technical drawings related to roofing projects.
- Install roofing materials such as slate, tiles, lead flashings, and flat roofing systems.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on existing roofs to ensure durability and weather resistance.
- Operate power tools, hand tools and welding equipment safely and effectively.
- Assist with the preparation of work sites, including setting up scaffolding and safety barriers.
- Conduct heavy lifting of roofing materials and equipment to facilitate installation or repairs.
- Collaborate with carpenters, masons, plumbers, and other tradespeople on construction sites.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and building codes.
- Maintain a clean work environment by removing debris and securing tools after each task.
Requirements
- Proven experience in roofing with level 2 NVQ (higher pay if you are level 3).
- Knowledge of schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings relevant to roofing projects.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently throughout the workday.
- Familiarity with construction safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail for precise installation work.
- Ability to work at heights on scaffolding or ladders safely.
