exeo.io Ltd. – Burton upon Trent
£55,000 starting salary
Full-time | 35 hours per week | Office-based
Are you a proper tech geek?
The sort of person who genuinely enjoys comparing CPUs, checking memory compatibility, debating storage configurations and working out exactly which components belong together?
Do you know the difference between simply building a powerful machine and specifying the right machine for a customer's workload, requirements and budget?
If so, we want to hear from you.
We're looking for a Solutions Architect to join the team at exeo.io Ltd. in our Burton upon Trent offices.
This is a hands-on technical role sitting between our customers, sales team and suppliers. Your main responsibility will be turning customer requirements into fully compatible, commercially competitive server and workstation solutions.
You'll need serious technical knowledge, commercial awareness and the ability to explain technology to customers and colleagues without hiding behind jargon.
What you'll be doing
A major part of your role will be designing and quoting custom server and workstation specifications based on customer briefs.
You'll take a requirement and work out exactly what hardware is needed, ensuring every component is compatible, appropriate for the intended workload and sourced at the best economical price.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing custom server and workstation configurations based on customer requirements
- Selecting CPUs, motherboards, memory, storage, GPUs, networking, power supplies and other components
- Checking complete hardware compatibility before specifications are quoted
- Balancing performance, reliability, expandability and customer budget
- Producing accurate technical specifications and quotations
- Sourcing components from our approved supplier and distributor network
- Comparing supplier pricing and availability to achieve commercially competitive solutions
- Identifying suitable alternatives when components are unavailable, uneconomical or inappropriate
- Working closely with our sales team to develop solutions for customer opportunities
- Joining customer discovery calls via Microsoft Teams
- Attending in-person customer meetings where technical input is required
- Translating customer requirements into practical technical solutions
- Helping our sales team answer technical questions, overcome objections and get deals over the line
- Keeping up with new processors, GPUs, server platforms, storage technologies and developments across the wider IT hardware industry
Who we're looking for
First and foremost, you need to be seriously into technology.
We're looking for someone whose technical knowledge goes beyond simply using computers. You should genuinely enjoy hardware, specifications and solving technical problems.
You might already work as a Solutions Architect, Technical Pre-Sales Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, Systems Engineer or Server/Workstation Specialist — or you may have built up the right level of expertise through another technical role.
The title matters less to us than what you actually know.
You'll ideally have strong knowledge of areas including:
- Server and workstation hardware
- Intel and AMD processor platforms
- Motherboards and chipsets
- ECC and non-ECC memory configurations
- Enterprise and workstation storage
- NVMe, SSD, HDD and RAID configurations
- GPUs and professional graphics/workstation hardware
- Networking hardware
- Power, cooling and chassis requirements
- Hardware compatibility and component selection
- Windows and general IT infrastructure
Knowledge of areas such as virtualisation, Microsoft environments, AI/GPU compute, enterprise storage and networking would also be advantageous.
You'll also need to be commercially minded
This isn't a role where the answer is simply to specify the most expensive hardware available.
A great solution delivers what the customer actually needs at a price that makes commercial sense.
You'll need to be comfortable comparing options, challenging specifications where appropriate and finding the best balance between performance, reliability and price.
Comfortable talking to customers
Although this is a highly technical position, it isn't a role where you'll spend every day hidden behind a screen.
You'll regularly support our sales team on customer conversations, including discovery calls and meetings.
You don't need to be a salesperson, but you do need to be confident talking about technology, asking the right technical questions and explaining your recommendations clearly.
When a customer asks, "Why should we go with this configuration?", you'll be the person who can explain exactly why.
What we offer
- Starting salary of £55,000
- 35-hour working week
- Full-time, permanent position
- 29 days' holiday, including a day off for your birthday
- Office-based role at our Burton upon Trent premises
- The opportunity to work with a wide range of server, workstation and infrastructure technologies
- A role where your technical knowledge directly influences the solutions we deliver to customers
Location
This is an in-house, office-based position in Burton upon Trent.
We're specifically looking for someone who wants to be part of the team in the office, working closely with our sales and technical colleagues.
Interested?
If you're the person friends, colleagues and customers come to when they need to know which hardware they should actually buy, we'd like to hear from you.
Apply with your CV and tell us a little about your technical background and the technologies you're most interested in working with.
