An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Dietitian to extend their skills and provide continuity of care by working in our specialist Tier 3 Weight Management and Tier 4 Bariatric Surgery services for people living with obesity. This maternity leave cover will be primarily focused on supporting our Tier 4 complex bariatric surgery patients.
This is a great time to join our service as you will be working with the team to change the way patients are managed, creating new and improved care pathways across the Weight Management & Bariatric Surgery Services, giving you the chance to develop your wider professional skills.
We have been awarded International Centre of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery status and are an ASO (The Association for the Study of Obesity) accredited collaborating centre for obesity management. As a lead centre in the South West of England, we are regularly involved in research.
You will need to be passionate about working with patients with severe and complex obesity and interested in offering behaviour modification skills/offering psycho-social support.

As a Dietitian you will work with the patients on the surgical pathway from referral to the Weight Management service through to surgery and support them with their post operative care, providing seamless support. You will also support our more complex post bariatric surgery patients.

To contribute to the provision of the Dietetic service for the Weight Management and Bariatric Surgery Services.
This will involve providing specialist dietetic patient care in MDT clinics, dietetic led clinics and group education and intervention sessions through face to face contact with some use of digital platforms and telephone contact, at Musgrove Park Hospital. There is potential for some off site and home working.
You will be supported by the Band 7 lead dietitian for weight management and the other Band 6 Dietitians in the Weight Management and Bariatric Surgery Services as well as the highly experienced wider MDT.

As a key member of the specialist Dietetic team, undertake specialist dietetic and psychosocial assessment and provide continuity of care, holistic advice, guidance and support to patients in the Weight Management and Bariatric Surgery Services.
Working with the MDT and the Dietetic team, contribute to continuous improvement in the way patients are managed, across the pathways in the Weight Management and Bariatric Surgery Services.
Provide specialist dietetic advice and guidance to non-specialist Dietetic colleagues and other clinicians.Provide supervision and support to other staff relating to the Weight Management and Bariatric Surgery Services, including the Student and Dietetic Apprenticeship Programme.
