Semantics 21 is a leading UK technology company specialising in digital-forensics and investigative software. Our products are used globally by law-enforcement, government and investigative organisations, and our work has been recognised through multiple national and international awards - including awards from both the late Queen Elizabeth II and His Majesty King Charles III.
We are continuing to expand our Stafford-based team and are looking for an exceptional Software Trainer to become an expert in S21’s specialist investigative technology and teach our customers how to get the very best from it.
This is first and foremost a training position.
You may currently be a software or application trainer, technical trainer, teacher or instructor. Alternatively, you may have experience within policing, law enforcement, digital forensics or another investigative environment where teaching, training or presenting has formed an important part of your role.
What matters most is your ability to teach well.
You should be able to stand confidently in front of a room, explain complicated subjects simply, adapt your approach to different audiences and gain the respect and attention of experienced professional users.
You do not need previous experience with S21 software. We will provide comprehensive product and workflow training. We are looking for someone who can learn sophisticated software quickly and then communicate that knowledge confidently and effectively to others.
The Role
You will become an expert in S21 software and deliver professional training to customers ranging from individual users through to groups and classroom-style sessions.
Training may be delivered from our Stafford office, remotely or onsite with customers across the UK and occasionally internationally.
We do not want someone who simply teaches people which buttons to press. You will help customers understand how the software fits into their work, how to use it effectively and the benefits it can provide.
You will need to understand not only how the software works, but why it matters.
With an investigator or end user, that may mean demonstrating how a workflow can make their job easier, save hours of manual work or help them achieve a better result.
With a manager or senior stakeholder, it may mean explaining the same capability in terms of efficiency, consistency, staff time, capacity or cost.
The successful person should gradually become one of S21’s internal product experts and someone our customers recognise, trust and enjoy learning from.
Responsibilities
You will:
- Learn S21’s specialist software and develop an expert understanding of its features and workflows.
- Deliver professional training to individual users, small groups and classroom-sized groups.
- Deliver training in person and remotely.
- Provide training at S21 and onsite with customer organisations.
- Onboard new customers and help them become confident using S21 software.
- Deliver refresher and advanced training to existing users.
- Teach complete workflows rather than simply demonstrating individual features.
- Adapt your training style to different levels of experience, technical knowledge and seniority.
- Explain complex technical concepts clearly and in plain English.
- Help users understand how S21 technology can make their work easier and more effective.
- Communicate wider benefits such as efficiency, consistency, capacity and cost savings to managers and senior stakeholders.
- Prepare and continually improve training materials, presentations and practical exercises.
- Deliver webinars and product-update sessions.
- Support product demonstrations, customer meetings and trials where appropriate.
- Gather feedback from customers and communicate useful insights to our product and development teams.
- Keep your product knowledge current as S21 software develops.
- Support conferences, exhibitions and other customer-facing activities where appropriate.
As your product knowledge and experience develop, there may be opportunities to become involved in additional customer-facing and commercial activities. However, the primary purpose of this position is training customers and helping them get the maximum value from S21 technology.

Previous experience within policing, law enforcement, digital forensics or investigative technology would be particularly valuable, but is not essential.
We can teach the right person our software and investigative workflows. The ability to learn, teach, communicate and command the attention of an audience is more important.

What We Offer
- Salary of £32,000 - £42,000, depending on experience and practical ability.

Location, Hours and Travel
This is a full-time position principally based at our Stafford office, ST18 0WL.
Normal working hours are 10:00 - 18:00, Monday to Friday.
The position involves occasional travel to deliver training, attend customer meetings and support conferences or other company activities.
S21 also works with customers internationally. There will therefore occasionally be training, demonstrations or meetings outside normal UK working hours. Suitable notice will be provided and working arrangements adjusted appropriately when this is required.
