Situated just a 15 minute drive from Belfast and set in the heart of an already established residential community, Glenabbey Manor is a friendly, safe and welcoming residential and dementia care home, with provision for up to 76 residents.

The modern accommodation at Glenabbey Manor is spacious, comfortable and beautifully designed, with easy accessibility enabling residents to move around safely. Our private bedrooms spaces are fully furnished, with a flat screen TV and en-suite shower room as standard. Residents may bring their own home accessories and furniture, to personalise their space and make it their home.

The Role

The General Assistant role at Kathryn Homes is a blended role, working with the Housekeeping and Kitchen team to assist with the day-to-day operations of the Home.

The General Assistants in our Homes play a key role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of our kitchens, housekeeping and laundry functions, ensuring that residents receive high-quality meals and have a clean environment. The role is essential in the wellbeing of our residents through the provision of high-quality, person-centred surroundings.

Working as part of the Kitchen and Housekeeping team, reporting to the Housekeeper and Chef, the role is about a lot more than preparing and serving meals and cleaning – the General Assistant will support with ensuring the dietary needs of our residents are met in addition to contributing to a clean and tidy environment for our residents.

About The Role

Main Responsibilities

Ensure the expected standards are achieved throughout the home
Cover domestic, kitchen and laundry duties – training in all 3 areas provided
Identify and report any damage, faults or other issues to maintenance or management
Adhere to the cleaning and auditing schedule
Use and store cleaning products in accordance to COSHH regulations
Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required as designated by the Home Manager.

Required Criteria

To be numerate and literate with a good standard of English
The Right to Work in the UK
Have basic knowledge of COSHH, Health and Safety, Fire and Security Regulations

Desired Criteria

Relevant work experience in a care home/ healthcare environment
Previous experience gained in a domestic, laundry or kitchen environment
