Full job description

Eventus Legal are seeking a Private Client Solicitor to join a well-established and highly regarded law firm based in Durham, County Durham or Darlington, County Durham. This is a permanent, full-time job offering 35 hours per week with flexible working patterns (not a traditional 9–5), alongside an excellent benefits package including a firm-wide bonus scheme, enhanced holiday entitlement, pension contributions, life assurance, and a range of wellbeing and lifestyle perks. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Private Client Solicitor or Wills and Probate Solicitor to join a progressive firm with a strong reputation across the North, offering genuine autonomy, career development, and the chance to make a real impact within a growing Private Client team.

Role Responsibilities

As a Private Client Solicitor, you will manage a varied caseload of Private Client matters and play a key role in delivering exceptional legal services. The successful Private Client Solicitor will also contribute to business development and team success. Duties will include:

Managing a full caseload of Private Client matters including Wills, Trusts, Lasting Powers of Attorney, and Estate Administration
Providing high-quality legal advice to clients with professionalism, care, and attention to detail
Supporting colleagues and collaborating effectively within the Private Client team
Building and maintaining strong client relationships while developing new connections with referrers and professional contacts
Undertaking fee-earning work and ensuring a profitable contribution to the department
Supervising support staff where appropriate and assisting with team development
Participating in networking, marketing, and business development activities to generate new work
Maintaining accurate and compliant files in line with regulatory and Lexcel standards
Managing billing, time recording, and financial aspects of your caseload effectively
Cross-referring work internally and contributing to the wider success of the firm

Person Specification

Applications are sought from experienced Private Client Solicitors, Wills and Probate Solicitors, or Private Client Lawyers who can demonstrate strong technical expertise and a proactive approach. The ideal Private Client Solicitor will have:

A minimum of 5 years’ PQE in Private Client law
Proven experience managing a broad Private Client caseload independently
Strong knowledge of Wills, Trusts, Probate, and Estate Planning matters
Excellent drafting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build lasting client relationships
The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
High levels of organisation, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines
A proactive, motivated, and positive approach to work and business development
Commercial awareness and the ability to identify opportunities for growth
A commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining up-to-date legal knowledge
