Salary: FC7 £34,914.86 to £43,437.09

Working Pattern: 36 hours per week

Location: Cupar, Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy central covering areas in Glenrothes, Cowdenbeath

Job Details

The Children & Family Service has completed a service redesign to ensure services offer both an early help and support alongside core statutory services to improve outcomes for children, young people and families in Fife. Early Help and Support Teams (EH&S Teams) are based across the 7 localities in Fife, delivering a range of earlier intervention services to children in need to address wellbeing needs, concerns and emerging risks. The support will consist of a family-based assessment, direct 1-1 support, family decision making and a range of group work opportunities. The core components of the EH&S Teams are outlined below:

Initial assessment underpinned by a whole family approach

Development of a family plan which is co-produced with families as part of a relational approach

1-1 support in family homes/EH&S base underpinned by a family decision making model

Delivery of group work (e.g. Incredible Years, Mellow, Triple P)

Pre-birth support and assessment (including caregivers using harmful substances)

Collaborative work with Primary & Secondary Schools through formal partnership meetings. (e.g. thematic group work, partnership training etc)

Collaborative work with Health Visiting Teams, CLD and Third sector organisations.

Development of community initiatives based on thematic priorities

Ways in which you have demonstrated that you can work effectively as part of a team.

(Consider the following: how you have built positive relationships built on trust and respect; how you communicate with others; how you use your initiative to meet targets and achieve goals)

Ways in which you have built and sustained positive relationships that have led to positive outcomes for Children and their families.

(Consider the following: how have you demonstrated care and commitment when actively engaging with children, young people and their families; how have you established positive and purposeful relationships; how have you worked collaboratively with others to improve outcomes for children, young people and their families?)

Key tasks include:

Undertaking assessment and practical support/advice to families to address wellbeing needs, concerns and emerging risk

Working collaboratively with a range of partner agencies to promote wellbeing and achieve positive outcomes

Contributing to the delivery of a range of group work opportunities

Recording service user information and measuring impact of support

The post involves some lone working, working flexibly.

Qualification, Registration and Skill Requirements

Educated to SCQF Level 7 which includes HNC or Advanced Highers or equivalent in one of the relevant fields of childcare, social care, health or community development.

The individual should have:

Experience of working with vulnerable children, young people and families and the ability to build effective relationships

Knowledge of assessment frameworks

Experience of delivering interventions which demonstrate impact and improve outcomes

Good communication and organisational skills including IT and report writing skills

Partnership working skills

Ability to travel within Fife

Ability to work as part of a Team and on own as required

Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
