About the Role

Good research depends on what happens behind the scenes: schedules that stay organised, information that reaches the right people, records that can be trusted, and practical issues that are resolved before they slow a project down.

As a Research Operations Coordinator, you will provide day-to-day coordination for research and project activities, helping teams keep studies, documentation, meetings, suppliers, and operational deadlines under control. You will work across several pieces of activity at once, turning project plans into clear actions and making sure important details do not get lost between teams.

The position is well suited to someone who enjoys combining administration with project coordination and working with detailed information. You may spend part of the day preparing project documentation, updating trackers, or arranging meetings, then shift to coordinating a supplier request, checking expenditure records, or following up on an approaching project milestone.

Responsibilities

Coordinate administrative and operational activities across research and project workstreams.
Maintain project schedules, trackers, action logs, documentation, and shared records.
Arrange meetings, workshops, interviews, and other project activities.
Prepare agendas, supporting materials, meeting notes, and follow-up actions.
Monitor project deadlines and contact relevant colleagues when information or actions are outstanding.
Support the preparation and organisation of research documentation and internal reports.
Maintain accurate records relating to project expenditure, purchase requests, invoices, and supplier activity.
Coordinate with internal departments, external partners, contractors, and service providers.
Assist with onboarding project participants, temporary staff, or external collaborators where required.
Collect and organise operational data for progress reporting and project reviews.
Help ensure project files are complete, properly organised, and handled according to data protection requirements.
Identify administrative or scheduling issues and work with colleagues to resolve them before they affect delivery.
Support improvements to research administration processes and project tracking methods.
Provide general operational support during busy project periods.

Qualifications

Previous experience in project coordination, research administration, operations, programme support, or a comparable administrative role.
Strong organisational skills and confidence managing multiple deadlines.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and collaborative document platforms.
Ability to maintain accurate records and work comfortably with detailed documentation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience arranging meetings, tracking actions, and coordinating across different stakeholders.
Ability to work independently while keeping colleagues informed of progress and potential issues.
Previous experience within research, education, technology, professional services, or another project-based environment would be advantageous.
Familiarity with data protection and confidential information handling is beneficial.
