An exciting opportunity has arisen within our UK Information Technology team for a Technical Project Manager – Core Platforms. This role is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of Infrastructure, Network and Service Delivery projects across DP World UK, ensuring technical solutions are delivered safely, effectively and in line with business, operational and security requirements.
The Technical Project Manager – Core Platforms leads initiatives from discovery and requirements definition through planning, design, implementation and post-deployment stabilisation. Working closely with engineering teams, operational stakeholders and external suppliers, the role plays a critical part in maintaining resilient and secure technology platforms that support 24/7 terminal operations across DP World London Gateway and DP World Southampton.
The position is based at DP World London Gateway, with regular travel required to DP World Southampton to support project delivery and alignment across both UK terminals.
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of Infrastructure, Network and Service Delivery projects, ensuring successful implementation against agreed scope, timeline, budget and quality targets.
- Deliver projects involving network modernisation, switching and routing upgrades, fibre expansion, wireless infrastructure, firewall replacements, remote connectivity, data centre upgrades and end-user service improvements.
- Manage the full project lifecycle, including initiation, requirements gathering, planning, design sign-off, execution, testing, deployment, hypercare and operational handover.
- Develop and maintain project governance documentation including delivery plans, RAID logs, risk assessments, test strategies, cutover plans and transition-to-support artefacts.
- Ensure all projects follow established governance processes and achieve the required approvals relating to technical design, cybersecurity, testing and operational readiness.
- Coordinate closely with Infrastructure, Network Engineering, Service Delivery, Cyber Security and Operational Technology teams to ensure solutions meet resilience, performance and availability requirements.
- Manage project scope, schedules, dependencies and change requests, escalating risks and delivery challenges with clear recommendations and mitigation plans.
- Support secure-by-design delivery principles, working with Cyber Security teams to address vulnerabilities, access controls, patching requirements and security standards.
- Coordinate user acceptance testing, performance testing, failover testing and operational readiness activities prior to go-live.
- Lead relationships with third-party suppliers and service providers, ensuring delivery commitments, contractual obligations and service levels are effectively managed.
- Provide regular project reporting and status updates to sponsors and senior stakeholders, highlighting progress, risks, decisions and business impacts.
- Facilitate project workshops, design reviews, deployment readiness meetings and stakeholder forums to maintain delivery momentum and alignment.
- Support UK participation in regional and global technology initiatives where local sites form part of wider infrastructure and platform deployment programmes.
- Experience delivering IT Infrastructure, Network or Service Delivery projects within complex technical environments.
- Demonstrable experience managing full project lifecycles from initiation and planning through implementation, testing and operational handover.
- Solid understanding of core infrastructure and networking technologies including LAN/WAN, routing, switching, VLANs, Wi-Fi, VPNs, firewalls, fibre infrastructure and high-availability design principles.
- Experience working with technical engineering teams, suppliers and business stakeholders to successfully deliver projects and operational outcomes.
- Understanding of disaster recovery principles, resilience planning and ITIL-aligned service management environments.
- Strong project planning, governance and organisational skills, including experience producing delivery plans, risk logs, test plans and cutover documentation.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a structured approach to risk management, issue resolution and decision-making.
- Ability to influence stakeholders, build collaborative relationships and drive delivery outcomes across multiple teams and functions.
- Experience working within operational, logistics, industrial or other 24/7 availability environments would be advantageous.
- Degree or diploma in IT, Networking, Infrastructure, Computing or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Project Management certification or training such as PRINCE2, APM, AgilePM, PMP, PMBOK or equivalent is highly desirable.
- ITIL Foundation certification would be advantageous.
- Relevant vendor or technology certifications such as Cisco, CompTIA Network+ or Azure Fundamentals would be beneficial.
