We're looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our East West Rail team based in St Neots, Cambridgeshire.

Kier are delivering a range of surveys for East West Rail, covering the Bedford to Cambridge section. This exciting role involves coordinating and managing the delivery of geotechnical ground investigation to ensure safe, efficient delivery and achievement of high quality samples, tests and descriptions. You'll be part of a team delivering crucial ground investigation work, partnering with the Project Manager, drilling suppliers and the client's Investigation Supervisor to provide the information needed for the next generation of rail infrastructure.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you'll be working within the East West Rail team, supporting them in delivering high quality geotechnical surveys for this major infrastructure project. Your day to day will include:
- Facilitating the planning and programming of ground investigation fieldwork by drilling suppliers
- Tracking and recording progress against programme and auditing the quality and consistency of borehole log descriptions
- Facilitating safety inspections, audits and recording of near misses and safety incidents in a proactive manner
- Early identification of problems and working collaboratively with drilling suppliers to find pragmatic solutions
- Supporting drill rig inspections and liaising with the land access manager over site availability
What are we looking for?
This role of Senior Geotechnical Engineer is great if you have:
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Earth Sciences, Geology, or a related subject has provided a strong technical foundation.
- Extensive experience gained delivering ground investigations and site-based geotechnical work.
- Confidence using AGS geotechnical data and Common Data Environment (CDE) systems helps keep projects organised and compliant.
- Experience managing subcontractors has developed strong planning, coordination and communication skills.
- A full driving licence with flexibility to travel to sites when required.
