Full job description

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Yard Foreman to lead and coordinate yard operations within a fast-paced logistics environment. This vital role involves overseeing materials handling, shipping and receiving processes, and team management to ensure smooth, efficient, and safe yard activities. The Yard Foreman will play a key part in optimizing warehouse workflows, implementing process improvements, and maintaining high standards of safety and organization. Duties

Supervise daily yard activities, including materials handling, shipping, receiving, and forklift operations
Manage a team of yard personnel, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure productivity and safety compliance
Coordinate logistics operations with internal teams and third-party logistics providers (3PL) to facilitate timely deliveries and pickups
Oversee the use of warehouse management systems (WMS) such as AS400 for inventory tracking and order processing
Conduct regular process reviews to identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices for efficiency
Ensure proper handling of heavy lifting tasks and mechanical equipment maintenance to promote safety and operational reliability
Maintain accurate records of shipments, inventory movements, safety inspections, and yard audits

Skills

Proven experience in warehouse management systems (WMS), particularly AS400 or similar platforms
Strong knowledge of materials handling techniques, forklift operation, and heavy lifting safety protocols
Excellent team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff in a fast-paced environment
Solid understanding of logistics processes including shipping & receiving procedures and 3PL coordination
Mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues promptly and effectively
Experience with process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency
Familiarity with warehouse experience, including inventory control, safety standards, and warehouse organization
