Lead Youngstock Rearer – Taunton
Opportunity for a Calf and Youngstock Rearer to join our progressive dairy farm near Taunton.
Expected start: beginning of September (due to our current youngstock rearers travelling plans)
About the Farm
We milk 550 Holsteins and 150 Jerseys through a modern 40:40 Boumatic parlour. Our high-yield housed herd produces milk for Cathedral City Cheese (Saputo). Facilities which have been purpose-built within the last 8 years.
The Role Includes:
- Overseeing calf care from birth through to weaning
- Effective management of colostrum
- Ensuring high standards of health, welfare, and hygiene
- Following protocol, administering medicines and vaccinations
- Supporting calving and dry cow management
- Collaborating closely with farm owners and senior staff to ensure a high level of calf performance
A full UK driving licence essential; telehandler license & tractor driving experience preferred but not essential.
About You
- Positive, proactive, and detail-focused
- Excellent communicator and team player, who inspires and motivates those around you
- Some experience with calves or youngstock preferred, but training is available
- Passionate about animal welfare and continuous improvement
