We are seeking a reliable and proactive Facilities Maintenance Assistant to support the upkeep and presentation of the diverse estate, including; cruise vessels, cafe and shop visitor facility, self-catering holiday accommodation, car parks and office's.
Jacobite Cruises Limited is an award winning, ASVA-five-star rated, leading tourism operator with a Monster Reputation for Excellence, based on the A82 at Dochgarroch Lock (4 miles South of Inverness city center towards Fort William) - providing exceptional experiences on Loch Ness for over 50 years.
This is a varied, hands-on and pro-active role responsible for ensuring company assets are safe, well-maintained and presented to a high standard for customers and staff. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a high-quality visitor experience across all sites. Permanent 32-hour week contract - 4 days out of 7.
The Role and Responsibilities:
- Carry-out routine maintenance and minor repairs across all sites, including buildings, vessels and equipment.
- Respond promptly to maintenance issues to minimise operational disruption.
- Assist with planned preventative maintenance tasks.
- Maintain car parks, walkways and external areas to a clean, safe and presentable standard.
- Undertake basic landscaping duties including grass cutting, litter picking and seasonal upkeep.
- Ensure signage, lighting and outdoor fixtures are in food condition.
Facilities, Vessels & Marine Support
- Support the upkeep of restaurant, office and holiday cottages.
- Assist with basic plumbing, joinery, painting and decorating tasks.
- Assist with basic upkeep and presentation of vessels as directed.
- Conduct weekly deck cleaning and minor maintenance tasks.
- Work alongside engineering and operational teams when required.
- Ensure all work is carried out in line with company health and safety procedures.
- Identify and report hazards, defects and maintenance requirements.
- Use tools, equipment and materials safely and responsibly.
Essential Requirements:
- Previous experience in a maintenance, facilities or grounds caretaker role.
- Practical skills across general maintenance (basic plumbing, electrical or joinery).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent awareness of health and safety practices.
- Full UK driving license with trailer license desirable.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Experience in hospitality, tourism or multi-site environments.
- Basic mechanical knowledge or experience supporting marine operations.
- Groundskeeping or landscaping experience.
