Full job description

Overview

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Finance Officer to oversee a range of finance and administrative functions. This hands-on role requires strong experience in transactional finance, including invoicing, purchase ledger, VAT, and tax compliance, alongside the ability to analyse financial data and produce accurate management reports within a fast-paced haulage environment.

Responsibilities

Prepare, issue and manage weekly sales invoicing
Process supplier invoices
Manage day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable.
Update cashflow
Utilise Sage to record and reconcile financial data accurately.
Maintain holiday/absence records
Prepare payroll for processing
Completing monthly bank and account reconcilliations
Month-end close activities, including manual journal entries
Prepare and produce monthly management accounts to shareholders
Assist in the optimisation of financial processes and systems to improve efficiency.
Coordinate with external auditors during audits and ensure all documentation is complete and accurate.
Support the organisation’s financial planning and forecasting activities.

You will ideally have:

Advanced Excel skills
Experience of working with Sage would be highly desirable
Excellent analytical and organisational abilities
AAT qualified, or part qualified CIMA or ACA
A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and take ownership
A confident effective communicator with personnel at all levels of the organisation

The office is open from 8am to 5.30 pm. We are flexible with your start and finish times for this 40 hour per week with a 30 minute lunch break.
