JOB SUMMARY

Location: Paignton, Onsite

Employment Type: Permanent/Full Time

We’re looking for an engineer or recent graduate to join our team developing high-performance pump lasers for global optical communication networks.

This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in photonics product development, working across the full lifecycle from concept to manufacturing in a collaborative environment.

What You’ll Do

Support development and qualification of advanced laser products
Collaborate with design, process, and packaging engineers to solve technical challenges
Assist with testing, characterisation, and performance analysis
Contribute to product improvements and design reviews
Coordinate verification testing and report results
Support new product introduction (NPI) with global manufacturing teams
Help define product specifications and requirements

What You’ll Bring

Essential:

Degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or related field
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of photonics, optoelectronics, semiconductors, or lasers
Experience with experimental work and data analysis
Good communication and teamwork skills

Desirable:

Programming (e.g. Python)
Statistical tools (e.g. JMP)
CAD or 3D design (e.g. SolidWorks)
