Sound Pop Academy are looking for a Performing Arts Assistant to support their Romsey academy!
This is an exciting opportunity to share your passion of music and performance with young people, as well as the opportunity to develop your delivery and facilitation skills within a professional capacity.
We’re looking for a passionate ‘Academy Assistant’ to support with the delivery permanent, high quality weekly sessions whilst driving each individual Sound Pop Academy member to their full potential.
Sound Pop Academy allows young people to take part and perform in a contemporary and fresh singing group across the south coast.
The idea was born in October 2016 and our vision of being ‘bold and different’ has defined us. We are the south's leading singing group for young people aged 2-17. We run weekly sessions throughout the year and pride ourselves on teaching young people about harmony singing, vocal technique and performance skills in a fun, creative, dynamic and engaging way.
We help develop confidence and social skills at every session, teaching contemporary pop songs. All of our song arrangements are exclusive to Sound Pop Academy and are created in-house. They are taught using a method of teaching that young people won’t have experienced before. We embrace all young people who share a passion in music, movement, performance and being themselves. We like to push boundaries in the rehearsal room and out on the road. As well as enriching our members experience through socials and trips, we know young people love to perform and so we do just that.
We also deliver a development of skills programme so that all of our members can develop as performers.
The role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check (organised and paid for by Sound Pop Academy) as well as a professional and character reference.
This is a self employed (freelancer) position and the candidate will be responsible for their own expenses and taxes.
Main responsibilities of a Sound Pop Academy Assistant.
- To support the Academy Leader with high quality, creative sessions to young people aged 5 - 17 that are well planned and in-line with our teaching schedule, engaging, fun and safe.
- To ensure that all members receive the highest possible tuition, whilst understanding and allowing for a difference in abilities and confidence.
- To support with song teaching, which includes 2 - 3 part harmonies - all songs will be taught by the Academy Leaders.
- To learn and deliver an energetic physical warm up at the beginning of every session (the warm up will be choreographed by Sound Pop Academy).
- To support with the teaching of basic to moderate difficulty choreography - all movement is choreographed by Sound Pop Academy and will be supplied to you.
- To represent Sound Pop Academy and provide a first class level of customer service to parents and members and to support with building relationships between Sound Pop Academy and our parents/members.
- To support at performance opportunities in the local area.
- To endorse Sound Pop Academy where appropriate, directing all new interest in membership to the website.
- To ensure the safety of each and every child is at the forefront of all activity.
- To be hands-on and get ‘stuck in’ to every session, helping any member who may require additional support, such as stepping in time with a beat, or moving in unison with the group. Adapting language and support as necessary, being mindful of the age group and ability levels.
- Any other ad-hoc tasks that may arise as expected (or unexpected!) with any group of this nature.
