Full job description

EFW Shift Operations Technician

Join us as a Shift Operations Technician at the Cornwall Energy Recovery Centre where we generate clean electricity from residual waste and support a greener, more circular economy.

Salary and Benefits: £36,444.41 plus 20% Shift Allowance, up to 10% Bonus, 5% Company Pension, 3 x life assurance policy and benefits catalogue

Shift Pattern: 2 days, 2 Nights 4 Off - Rolling 7 Weeks - Then 18 Days Off

Location: Cornwall Energy Recovery Centre - St Dennis, ST. AUSTELL, PL26 8DY

What you'll be doing

You’ll help keep our energy recovery plant running safely and efficiently:

Monitor, control, and optimise plant processes using the Distributed Control System (DCS), quickly identifying and resolving issues.
Operate and maintain water tube boilers, including water analysis, chemistry monitoring, and ensuring optimal performance.
Perform safe system isolations to protect people, plant, and the environment.
Carry out regular checks, fault diagnosis, and support safe, reliable energy generation during normal operations, start-ups, shutdowns, and emergencies.

What we're looking for

Experience in energy recovery, waste-to-energy, power plants, or similar industrial processes (essential).
Knowledge of boilers, combustion, process control, and relevant health & safety / environmental legislation.
Preferred: BOAS Cert IBO and/or IOSH Working Safely qualifications
DCS system operation experience (desired)
