We are currently seeking an experienced Asphalt Plant Manager to take overall responsibility for the safety and operational performance of our asphalt plant in Billingham.

Key Responsibilities

Line management of on-site Plant Supervisors, providing leadership, support, and clear direction
Full responsibility for budgets and P&L management, including cost control and financial performance
Month-end P&L reporting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Experience running projects, including planning, delivery, and performance monitoring
Involvement in capital expenditure applications, justification, and delivery of approved projects
Ensure all operations are run in line with HSEQ policies and guidance
Strong focus on health, safety, and environmental compliance, promoting a positive safety culture
Conduct regular 1-to-1 meetings, performance reviews, and development discussions
Provide coaching, mentoring, and support to supervisory and operational teams
Ensure production targets, quality standards, and customer requirements are consistently met
Coordinate maintenance planning to ensure plant reliability and uptime
Ensure adequate resourcing, shift cover, and operational continuity across both sites
Liaise with senior management, internal stakeholders, and external contractors
Drive continuous improvement, efficiency gains, and best practice across both operations
Visually seen onsite, VFL's and interaction.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Previous experience operating an asphalt batching plant or working within a quarry/heavy industrial environment
Good understanding of asphalt mix designs, material properties and quality control standards
Ability to use computerised batching control systems and interpret production specifications. Basic mechanical knowledge with strong problem-solving skills
Sound knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements
Reliable, detail-oriented and able to work independently or as part of a team.
