Cornwall Woodburners is a family run business based in Truro, Cornwall.
We are currently looking for General builders to join our business team.
Hours are Monday to Friday.
You will be working in the installations department and reporting to the installations manager.
We are seeking a proactive and skilled General Builder to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for building works on customers fireplaces, and chimneys ensuring that projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards.
Responsibilities
- Knocking out and enlarging existing fireplaces, involving removing and installing lintels, block work, rendering and plastering
- Build and repair masonry structures such as walls, foundations, and chimneys using various materials
- Roof and chimney work work ensuring proper alignment, sealing, and durability against weather conditions
- Use hand tools and power tools efficiently for cutting, shaping, assembling, and finishing work
- Maintain a clean and organized worksite while adhering to all safety protocols at all times
Requirements
- Proven experience in Building works, ideally in plastering, rendering, block laying or roofing
- Strong knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on safety and quality workmanship
- Physical stamina to perform demanding tasks including lifting heavy materials and working at heights
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with customers, team members and supervisors
- Commitment to adhering to safety regulations and maintaining a safe work environment
- The ability to work both as a team and on your own
A full Uk Driving Licence is required for this role
JOB PURPOSE:
To assist in the preparation of fireplaces, laying hearths, rendering inside of fireplaces, and assist in fitting of Stoves and Fires.
Duties include:
- To support the installation process ensuring 100% customer satisfaction.
- To ensure professional and timely communication with all customers, suppliers and sales staff.
- To assist HETAS qualified engineer in the installation of planned fires and stoves works, to comply with statutory regulations and in line with the Company quality standards and customer timelines.
- To carry out general building work needed in association with the main job.
- To liaise with the department manager, sales staff and other sub-contractors to ensure the work is carried out in a timely and professional manner.
- Check and ensure that all areas for work have a safe working environment before proceeding, and highlight any issues to the department manager.
- To be responsible for tools and equipment provided, and ensure these are in good condition and available for use as required.
- To deliver exceptional customer service at all times.
- Carry out repair and rectification work as required.
- Clear all rubbish and clean site at end of work.
- Report instances of damage to the customer’s property to the department manager within 2 hours.
- To maintain awareness of current legislation for Health and Safety, Fire Regulations etc and follow relevant procedures
- To carry out duties in addition to the above, as instructed.
Pay: £32,500.00-£35,500.00 per year
