Are you an experienced and passionate early years leader ready to launch something truly special?

Potlocks Day Nursery is preparing to open its doors in September 2026, bringing exceptional childcare and early years education to the heart of Willington, Derbyshire. We are now seeking an inspiring Nursery Manager to join us from August 2026 to support with the exciting setup, recruitment, training and induction ahead of opening.

Part of the highly respected The DEN Nursery Group, Potlocks Day Nursery combines almost 20 years of award-winning childcare experience with a fresh, nurturing approach rooted in curiosity, nature and community connection.

Once open farmland on the edge of the village, Potlocks is a historic local area whose rural roots inspired our nursery’s name — proudly connecting today’s children to the land’s past while shaping their future.

This is a rare opportunity to lead a brand-new nursery from the very beginning and build a culture where children, families and practitioners thrive together.

As Nursery Manager, you will play a key role in bringing this vision to life.

The Role

We are looking for a confident, enthusiastic and experienced leader who:

Has a genuine passion for outstanding early years education
Can inspire and motivate a team
Has strong operational and leadership experience within a nursery setting
Is committed to delivering exceptional care and learning experiences
Builds positive relationships with families, children and the wider community
Has excellent knowledge of EYFS, safeguarding and Ofsted requirements
Is excited by the opportunity to establish and grow a new nursery

Essential Requirements

Minimum Level 3 qualification in Early Years (Level 5 or above desirable)
Previous nursery leadership or management experience
Strong understanding of safeguarding and compliance
Excellent communication and organisational skills
A warm, approachable and professional leadership style
