General Operative
About the role
At Mould Ability, we manufacture high-quality GRP products for customers across a diverse range of industries throughout the UK. We're looking for a reliable and hands-on General Operative to join our experienced team.
This is a varied role supporting our manufacturing operations across the workshop. You'll work with a range of materials, tools and components, assisting at different stages of production and helping to ensure every product meets the high standards our customers expect. No two days are the same, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work, has good manual dexterity and takes pride in doing a job well.
Key responsibilities
· Assist with the manufacture of GRP components at various stages of production.
· Handle and move materials and components safely throughout the workshop.
· Carry out hand-finishing using a variety of hand tools and techniques.
· Prepare materials, moulds and equipment for production.
· Assist with assembly, finishing and other workshop tasks as required.
· Inspect components throughout the manufacturing process to ensure quality standards are met.
· Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
· Work flexibly across different departments to support production requirements and customer deadlines.
This role offers the opportunity to learn specialist manufacturing skills while working alongside experienced laminators, finishers and mould makers. As you develop your skills, there may be opportunities to progress into more specialised manufacturing roles within the business.
Skills and experience
Essential
· Good manual dexterity and practical skills.
· Good attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work.
· Enjoys hands-on work and using tools.
· A positive, reliable and hardworking attitude.
· Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
· Good organisational and communication skills.
· Willingness to learn new skills and support different areas of the business.
Desirable
· Previous experience in a manufacturing or workshop environment.
· Experience using hand tools.
· Experience working to quality standards.
Previous experience in manufacturing is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from candidates with transferable skills and a willingness to learn, as full training will be provided for the right person.

Location and working hours
This is a full-time, permanent position based at our Chesterfield workshop, conveniently located close to Junctions 29A and 30 of the M1.
Working hours:
Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm
Friday: 8:00am – 1:00pm
