We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Consultant to join our established team of Diabetes and Endocrinology specialists, providing high-quality, patient-centred care across North and Mid Hampshire. The successful candidate will join a department of experienced consultants and a growing multidisciplinary team, contributing to the delivery and development of both inpatient and outpatient Diabetes and Endocrinology services.

The post holder will provide consultant leadership across Diabetes and Endocrinology services, supporting:
Specialist inpatient Diabetes and Endocrinology care
General medical ward support within a 25-bedded medical ward
Triage of referrals and Advice & Guidance requests
Inpatient Diabetes and Endocrine reviews
Specialist outpatient clinics in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Diabetic Foot services
Multidisciplinary team working alongside specialist nurses, dietitians, resident doctors and wider healthcare professionals
Teaching, training and supervision of junior medical staff
Clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and service development initiatives
There are opportunities to further develop specialist interests including:
Young adult and transition services
Insulin pump therapy
Community integration programmes
Sub-specialty endocrinology services

The Locum Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology will provide specialist clinical leadership and high-quality care across Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, working primarily at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital whilst supporting services across Winchester, Andover and community sites. The post holder will join an established team of consultants delivering inpatient and outpatient Diabetes and Endocrinology services, alongside support for General Internal Medicine. Responsibilities include consultant-led ward rounds, management of a 25-bedded medical ward, triage of referrals, provision of Advice and Guidance, and specialist review of inpatient Diabetes and Endocrine patients. The role includes regular outpatient clinics in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Diabetic Foot services, working closely with specialist nurses, dietitians and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver integrated, patient-centred care. The successful candidate will contribute to service development, quality improvement, clinical governance, audit and research activities, ensuring services remain aligned with national standards and best practice. The post holder will also play an active role in teaching, training and supervision of resident doctors and other healthcare professionals, supporting the Trust’s commitment to education and workforce development.
